PR003 MORE INFORMATION RE LOT 135--AN ARTICLE IN THE HOBART TOWN ADVERTISER IN DECEMBER 1850 MAKES MENTION OF " A VERY EXCELLENT REGULATOR CLOCK WITH DEAD BEAT ESCAPEMENT THE WHOLE OF WHICH HAS BEEN MADE ON HIS (ABBOTTS) PREMISES AND IS ENTIRELY OF COLONIAL MANUFACTURE AND WORKMANSHIP". IT COULD BE EASILY ARGUED THAT THE CLOCK MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE IS THE VERY SAME CLOCK WE ARE OFFERING. WHILST THERE ARE KNOWN EXAMPLES OF ABBOTTS CLOCKS WITH ENGLISH MOVEMENTS THERE ARE FEW KNOWN SURVIVING EXAMPLES OF THOSE MADE IN THE COLONY. click here to see photo
