THE HAMILTON COUCH,SO NAMED DUE TO ITS CONNECTION WITH TASMANIAS HAMILTON INN (C1835), CAN BE TRACED BACK TO WILLIAM SONNERS A FORMER PUBLICAN OF THE INN AND IDENTITY FROM THE HAMILTON DISTRICT IN THE MID 1800S.THE COUCH HAS BEEN IN THE SONNERS FAMILY SINCE.

SHOWING THE WEAR AND TEAR OF 180++ YEARS OF USE THE VALUE OF THE COUCH WAS ENHANCED BY ITS TIRED YET NEAR ORIGINAL CONDITION.THE FINAL HAMMER PRICE IS AN AUSTRALIAN RECORD PRICE FOR AN UNRESTORED PIECE OF AUSTRALIAN COLONIAL FURNITURE AND IS AMONG THE HIGHEST PRICES EVER ACHIEVED FOR ANY ITEM OF AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE.
